Some of ECOG's guests with limited time wish to get an overview of Greater Phuket Town at one day. We suggest such a trip by a taxi driven by an experienced and English speaking driver. The aims are:

Wat Kositvihan in the north of Phuket town,
Wat Thepkhanchonchit opposite westbound,
Wat Chalong (Phuket's most famous wat) southbound,
Lunch at Chalong Bay,
The new Big Buddha above Chalong Bay,
Sunset at Cape Phromtep.

It's a lot to be seen. Try to start early in the morning!

situated in the north part of Phuket town, impresses by its Buddhist cemetery.

From the hill of Wat Kosit Vihan there is a spectacular view to western direction: Far away on another hill a large Buddha statue emerges:

We are sure you will enjoy the friendly place of Wat Chalong. Visit the temples and watch the local people praying and adoring. Do not be afraid about the bangs on the premise. Their source is a tower of bricks where detonations of explosive come from: People believe these bangs make bad ghosts escape.

*4* Kan Eang Restaurants: Hungry for fresh Thai seafood? An especially nice place is to be found at Kan Eang 1 or Kan Eang 2 Restaurants at the shore of Chalong Bay. These restaurants offer plenty of shady tables. You should not have any difficulty to find your favorite table for not only enjoying your lunch but also the view over Chalong Bay. Far over the bay in the dust you may guess Cape Phanwa with its aquarium, another favorite place to visit one day. Above you westbound, on a hill chain, Phuket's newest attraction, the Big Buddha.

The road to the hill may be bumpy and dusty, but the drive up is worth the time and the money you spend for. You will have this view of Chalong Bay.

*6* Cape Promthep is famous for its sunsets, but it is a location for worship of Hindu God Brahma since former times too ("prom" is Thai for "Brahma", signifying purity, and "thep" means "God").

Do not hope to be alone there. Hundreds of other tourists have been informed about this nice place too and hold out until sunset. Shorten your waiting time in a nice coffee shop with a great view over the sea and the shoreline.

In Phuket's high season sunset is at about 17:30 - 18:00. Keep in mind that you will need about 2 hours for returning home to ECO Guesthouse.
