About Phuket's & Phangngaa's Golf Courses

Phuket Island hosts 6 golf courses with 18 holes each. The counting contains the new course Mission Hills, which has been opened in 2004. Three clubs offer additional 9 holes.

All the courses are rather even, embedded in a lot of lakes and ponds, and decorated by tropical trees and plants being in blossom. Such extraordinary places attract the public, and congestions are programmed. In Phuket sixsomes (6 persons in one flight) are allowed, a handicap is not requested. A credit card is sufficient for being admitted. The courses

are surrounded by large hotel facilities. There are shuttle services between some hotels and some golf clubs. The reception cares about the tee times. You yourself must bring along the time for waiting, and staying around in the burning sun is not a fun.

There is less congestion on both the courses of Blue Canyon Club, the Canyon Course and the Lakes Course. The club faces the visitor by an exclusive style - Asian business men are mostly the members and the guests - and protects itself against ordinary walk-ins by high fees. Use of Canyon Course is restricted to members, members' guests and guests staying at Blue Canyon Golfers' Spa Lodge. What about the landscape? The courses are not more beautiful as the other courses are; the golf challenge is not more severe.

Following the market's rules a new 18 holes course, Mission Hills, has been opened in 2004. It is situated opposite to the airport on the Eastern shore of the Island, a 15 minutes drive away. Some fairways follow the shoreline and offer nice views to the Andaman Sea. A luxury hotel belongs to the club.
